Upton Ultra - Sat 10th & Sun 11th July 2021
Malvern Hills - Worecestershire
Upton Ultra is a new Ultra event that is arriving in the Malvern Hill this summer and will be part of the Upton Triathlon which is in its 14th year.
The event will start and finish at Fish Meadow Farm, just over the bridge from the historic riverside town of Upton-On-Severn, Worcestershire.
The ultra distances are 100k, either straight through or with an overnight camping option, and a 50k. The route will travel north out of Fish Meadow along the River Severn until it cuts south west to the Victorian Spa Town of Great Malvern, it then ascends onto the scenic Malvern Hills and along the ridge-line, giving spectacular views of the surrounding area and reaching the highest point of 425m at the Worcestershire Beacon. Participants will then descend onto Castle Morton and head east back onto the River Severn, then north along the river, completing the loop back to Fish Meadow with a total distance of 50k and 950m ascent. The 100k route will then run the course in-reverse (TBC).
The route is a mixture of establish national ways, bridal ways, foot paths and some connecting tarmac roads. Each stage offers a diverse range of environments, from open hills, grassy meadows, sprawling commons, wooded paths and expanses of flood plain.
Each leg will be clearly marked and our event marshals will be on route to help manage any difficult navigation points, hazards and there will be regular food and re-hydration points.
The race is open to people of all levels from first-timers to pros, and there will be generous cut-off times to make sure everyone who takes part has a chance to complete their chosen route.
The Upton Ultra is a new addition to ultra running calendar and is run by Madhare which is a part of Cube Management. This will be the first in a series of Ultra events with another pencilled for 4th and 5th September 2021 in Umberslade, Warwickshire.
