Tour de Gorilla

May 15, 2020

With Covid-19 bringing competitive sport to a standstill and group rides on hold, our home club, Gorilla Coffee Cycling Club, wanted to bring something extra special to you this May.

Tour de Gorilla is a 6 stage FREE and SOLO cycling event for Gorilla Coffee Cafe cycling club members only.

Starting from Friday 15th of May, entrants will tackle 6 local "stages". Copying the format of the famous grand tours, these stages are designed to challenge all cyclists and include "Flat", "Mountain" and "Time Trial". Racing against the clock, each stage will see "Spinters, King of the Mountain" and the illustrious "Yellow" Jersey awarded to riders based on their Strava results from the day. Stuart John Bulloch will be keeping times and collecting bonus points to keep us all in the loop and to award bragging rights.

"Entrants" will have windows of around 3 days to complete each section before the "peloton" moves on to the next stage. The event ends on Sunday 31st May when the overall winner will be declared in an online "Zoom" ceremony.

The course has been designed by Mr Kris Rogers and includes challenging and varied routes. It is designed to give club members a fun and engaging event to keep us busy whilst respecting social distancing and government guidelines. Competitors must ride the event solo or with members of their household.

Routes and general rules of engagement will be sent out via email to existing club members and to new members on sign up
