Meet LoveBrum @ the MMH19

March 3, 2019

We chose LoveBrum as our Charity Partner because we've heard of all the great work they do. Dan & I love the fact that they reach every corner of the city - every community and every walk of life. They've even been heavily involved in our cycling community (see the bike projects they've been involved in below). So we asked LoveBrum to tell you, our riders more about themselves...

"LoveBrum is a charity for charities.

We raise and distribute funds to hidden-gem projects and volunteer-led organisations doing amazing things in Birmingham.

These can be registered charities, community interest companies, or simply someone working to make a difference in the city. As well as funding, LoveBrum aims to provide business support to these organisations on an ongoing basis.

We are delighted to have been chosen as an official charity partner for Madhare in 2019 and will be on site at Mad March Hare throughout the event!

All riders that chose to ride for LoveBrum will receive a goodie bag available to collect from the LoveBrum tent.

We also will be available to chat about memberships, causes, events and how together we can make Birmingham even better!

So come along and visit us at MMH19!

LoveBrum is different to other charities as every penny raised and donated gets distributed
in an open and transparent fashion. The money raised at Mad March Hare will go towards
the continual support of LoveBrum, and the small causes across Birmingham that we
support. To date, LoveBrum has showcased over 130 local projects from across the city,
supporting our people, health, communities and environment and donated an incredible
£100,000, which has helped well over 20,000 people!

Cycling Organisations that LoveBrum has supported:

Chapter II Youth Cycling -

Chapter 2 Youth Cycling is a North Birmingham cycling group of all ages, aiming to spread
their passion for cycling. Chapter 2 aims to teach good road safety to children and young
people, and raise engagement of the sport in their local area.
With the £2,000 funding, Chapter 2 Youth was able to expand and increase the number of
qualified coaches supporting new riders. The club was able to invest in first aid training and
safeguarding courses for their members, as well as additional resources such as spare
bikes.

Birmingham Bike Project -

Birmingham Bike Project collects second hand bikes, fixes them up and give them to
refugees and asylum seekers, along with a cycling safety kit, which includes a helmet, lock,
lights and pump. With the funding from LoveBrum, Birmingham Bike Project, were able to employ a project coordinator to manage and support the growth of the project. The funding also helped to
cover volunteer expenses, buy much needed equipment and parts for repairing the bikes, as
well as 20 cycling safety kits to give out to refugees with their new bike.

Ecobirmingham (Cycle South Brum) -

Cycle South Brum provides cycling tuition for people of all ages, and works to increase the
confidence of people learning to cycle so they are encouraged to cycle more. In addition to
cycling tuition, the project organises bike rides where all abilities can participate, promoting
good health in Birmingham and encouraging those who may be isolated to socialise with
others in their local community. The funding from LoveBrum enabled ecobirmingham to purchase two new Isla bikes, which are the best for teaching children with additional needs, as well as covering the cost of more staff to devote to the running of the project, ensuring that as many people as possible have
access cycling tuition.

We hope you found this helpful. Thank you for all your donations - so far we have already raised over £1300 for the Mad March Hare alone and we hope to raise much more with the car parking for the event.  This year LoveBrum will be manning the car park. We're asking for a contribution at the car park to LoveBrum so please do come along with a donation. You could base the amount on what you feel is reasonable for a day's parking in the knowledge that every penny is going to a great cause!
