We have a NEW ride for the diary:
The Mad Hatton | 23rd August 2020
Entries are just £10! (kids are free)
We have some exciting plans to bring in a new type of event starting this autumn aimed at the more social side of the Sunday ride!
The concept is simple: a great day out on the bike for all the family, taking in local sights and attractions and supporting local businesses.
There will be a choice of routes of a more leisurely nature than the March or Summer Hare; including our very first GRAVEL route AND the introduction of a FAMILY route!
We wanted to trial the idea, as soon as restrictions were lifted, and during lockdown rides around Warwickshire we came across the Hatton Arms! A fantastic pub with a fantastic team, fantastic food and drink and, most importantly, a HUGE beer garden! More of a field really! Perfect for the start/finish of a ride around the country lanes.
As with ALL Mad Hare events from here-on-in we have teamed up the Safe Event Scheme to ensure our events are within current guidelines and ensure the safety of our staff, riders and visitors. Check out the www.safeeventscheme.com website for more info on how we are preparing to bring events back!
A more comprehensive plan of all precautions put in place to keep you safe will be available closer to the event.
Any questions, as always you can email me at ride@madhare.cc or follow the conversation over on Facebook and join the

ROUTE OPTION 3: THE GRAVEL ROUTE
NUMBER OF CASTLES: 1 - Kenilworth Castle
LENGTH/ELEVATION: 35km/341m
FEED STATIONS: Breakfast and BBQ at the Hatton Arms
DESCRIPTION: The route that started the whole idea for this event. During lockdown I grabbed my gravel bike and went exploring places I never knew existed in 15 years of cycling around the area! I was blown away by the amazing, flat, fun, off-road space. It's around 60% 'gravel, fields, single track and cut throughs' and 40% rolling country roads. But you're more likely to pass more cows than cars!

NUMBER OF CASTLES: 1 - Kenilworth Castle
LENGTH/ELEVATION: 15km/85m
FEED STATIONS: Breakfast and BBQ at the Hatton Arms
DESCRIPTION: Flat, fast and lots of fun! With only 85m of elevation (most of which is at the start) once you're across the road at the start you won't see another car until you return. Expect gravel, grass, farms, little bridges, gates, turkey farms, horses, and then Kenilwoth Castle! Have a look around before heading off back to HQ the same way you came, which we've found, as a family of 4, a lot easier to explain to the kids! This is a firm fave of my 10 year old son.
